Thank you.

[He says it with a smile. In his mind, he always looks well, even when he doesn't. Dwelling on the alternative for too long makes his thoughts turn into static. ]

I'm better now that you're here, of course. I'm eager to get started.

[He gestures to the human in the chair. His muffled pleas have increased in pitch. ]

But first, I have a confession. Do you remember that death arena two years ago? When you killed all those heathens so spectacularly?

[I had the time of my fuckin' life. I've speculated as much. None of her words surprise him, but they all thrill him, this acknowledgment of a job well done.]

Yes. Along with AM.

[He knows she won't like that part of his confession, but there's no guilt in his voice, feigned or otherwise. And it's because of what he's going to say next:]

Next time, I'd like to throw him among the dogs.

[His choice of words is deliberate. Next time.]

You set up the traps in Fairwell, right? The one I talked to about the immolating-trigger coffin?

His memories of the entire event are a little weird just because it somehow felt so long ago, because time shenanigans and all, but he does know Amanda- tangentially.

<VIRGIL> no worries!

Right.

Have you ever considered setting those up in Bavan

For practical purposes, you know.

Well we discussed potentially using them as springtraps.

You think they could be used to slow down poachers?

That's fine, if we can put them in the right spots it should be alright. I'm a mechanical engineer too, I think you've got great stuff.

What do you think?

...Think we could make a spike trap that looks like a subway grate?

I think I can talk to someone about making decoys.

excellent

I've always wanted an excuse to build a high-concentration flamethrower for something.

Well, fair enough.

I'll draw up some blueprints, you draw up yours, we should discuss installation and part procurement.

It will be a few days, but he later drops plans for a pressure-activated grate that drops directly into a motion-activated meat grinder of sorts.

I'm contacting someone to see about putting convincing monster decoys over these, make it more attractive to posters.

That's fair. It's been hacked off for less. Just a minute.

It's a few minutes before he adds an additional sketch, This one showing a monster decoy with a pressure button under its feet, so you'd have to stand on the grate and move it to get dropped.

[Dated concurrently with this post.]

Good day, Mademoiselle Amanda.

I witnessed you earlier speaking to a creature, alias 'understanding,' about an organization called The Haze. I am unfamiliar with the purpose and workings of this organization. Do they work in the name of the Fog, or do they undermine Her will?

[Interesting. He words his next reply and question very, very carefully. He knows with whom he speaks, and ensures a tenuous sort of professional respect comes through in his writing.]

You and I both know the Fog condones and instructs us to fill the roles She has given us. How has the Haze interfered with you and Monseigneur Aunamee?
